Thank you for visiting JBBearImages.com, Roseville Photographer. I hope to inspire people through this site to explore photography beyond the mindset of capturing "snapshot" memories, but to see it as a unique way to create artistic expression. To be creative in photography it is necessary to understand how to use the camera as the tool to creative expression. You can choose to set the camera on "automatic or program" and allow the camera to take a picture, or you take control of the camera and YOU create the photograph that you see before you. That is the challenge and the satisfaction of every area of photography. Whether it is wedding photography, portrait photography, commercial photography, landscape photography, sports photography, journalistic photography, you can learn to be confident to capture the image every time with some basic knowledge of camera functions.
In 1981 I discovered photography when my first son was born and I wanted to document his growth. I wanted to "capture" those days in ways only a camera could. I found there were so many ways to make the image tell a story, rather than to be satisfied with a photo snapshot. Within four years I had a wedding and portrait business supporting trips to the Sierra Mountains and many of the northwestern states. The passion grew with more understanding of the camera, as a tool of capturing the incredible scenery that was available to me. I invested in 35mm Nikon equipment, remote lighting, and a tripod, and I found a journey heading into three decades. I hope these Northern California, Eastern Sierra and other outdoor photographs bring you the joy that I experienced when I took them. There is something about being out in nature, even in the extreme elements of the weather, that makes it all worthwhile. The challenge of creating a photograph bathed in the warm colors of the early morning or evening light, worthy of displaying on a living room or office wall is a continuing passion.
I have stock photographs from Marin, Sonoma , and the various surrounding counties, as well as the Eastern Sierra Mountains, Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, Death Valley, Bodie, the Alabama Hills, Bishop area, and the Bristlecone Pines in the White Mountain range. Other favorite destinations have been Yellowstone National Park, The Grand Tetons, Northwestern Washington and the Cascades. I have photographed the 50th anniversaries of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges. San Francisco was an early favorite subject of mine as well. A personal side note, my wife, Lisa and I, have a total of five children, Justin, Joshua, Andrea, Luke & Tabatha, all a blessing to us. Justin and his wife, Jessica, have continued to add to the family blessings with Crista and Carter. Joshua and his wife, Keagen, have Daemon and Ashlyn.
